8.6.11 Rock the River--EVENT 411

Join us on 8/17 from 5pm-10pm at Lareau Farm at American Flatbread in Waitsfield for music, dancing, door prize raffle, junky boat race, Flatbread, kid's activities and more!  All to benefit the Friends of the Mad River.  Tickets are $15 for 16+; kids free. All tickets will be entered in the door prize raffle and be eligible to win a Mad River Glen or Sugarbush Mount Ellen ski pass!

Junky Boat Race Guidelines
  • Your boat must be homemade (no commercial boats no matter how junky they are)
  • 60-60-60 Rule: In order to qualify, your boat must:
  • Stay afloat for at least 60 seconds
  • Hold at least 60 pounds
  • Travel at least 60 feet (conditions permitting)
  • Your boat must stay together (if it falls apart you must clean up ALL the pieces!)
  • Please no ramming or destroying other boats
  • All participants riding boats must wear a PFD
  •  Rules subject to change based on river conditions (i.e. if the river flow is too low to travel 60 feet on)

 Possible Prize Categories

  •  Fastest

  • Most “Green”

  • Most creative Use of Materials

  • Most Comical

  • Best Name

  • Other: Judges’ Discretion 

Race Course

The race will begin just south of Lareau Farm (at American Flatbread in Waitsfield) and end just south of the Route 100 bridge at Lareau Farm.  Course is subject to change based on river conditions.
