The Friends of the Mad River are dedicated towards continuing to protect and improve the health of the Mad River Watershed's natural and human communities. Annual membership dues, planned gifts, and grants are a major component in sustaining this valuable mission.

Member Benefits

Members receive our biannual newsletter (one printed, one electronic), members-only access to our website, e-mail updates and a Friends of the Mad River decal to proudly display in your home or auto.

Corporate sponsors are listed on our website.

Annual Membership Dues

Annual Membership Dues help to underwrite our core programs and services. It is vitally important to ensure that we continue this work

  • Maintain an office, phone, email, website, and staff person to be a daily contact for the watershed community.

  • Monitor the water quality of the Mad River through the Mad River Watch Program.

  • Put science in the hands of the next generation. Membership funds help FMR connect with local schools and introduce children to watershed stewardship.

  • Provide vital information about the Mad River Watershed via articles in the local paper, newsletter, educational booklets, speakers, and workshops.

Help this work continue.  Membership levels are as follows:

  • Individual:  $10
  • Family:  $25
  • Business:  $50
  • Corporate:  $100

Planned Giving

There are a number of ways in which a donor can leave a legacy that will help ensure Friends of the Mad River's continued vitality for years to come. And, planned gifts may well have significant tax advantages for the donor and his or her heirs. Friends of the Mad River is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Contributions are deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law. Donors should consult their tax advisors or estate planners about how best to accomplish their goals.

Options currently available to donors through the Friends of the Mad River include bequests (gifts by will made at the time of the donor's death) as well as life income gifts such as charitable remainder annuity trusts which can entitle the donor to an income tax deduction as well as providing the donor with a fixed annual income.

How are planned gifts used? Bequests or other kinds of planned gifts can be used by FMR toward an endowment, as unrestricted support, or as part of a fund for a specific project. To ensure that Friends of the Mad River can honor your wishes, the donor is encouraged to consult with FMR about the purpose of the gift before you have named Friends of the Mad River as a beneficiary.

If you are interested in finding out more about donating to Friends of the Mad River, please contact our office, 496-9127. All information will be treated with complete confidentiality.
