Event Details
UPDATE - The touring portion of the event is a go!
Date: December 13, 2024
Time: 5 - 8:30 pm
Location: Gate House Lodge, Lincoln Peak, Sugarbush
Join Friends of the Mad River and the Mad River Valley Backcountry Coalition for an uphill touring rally and climate-focused ski film fest. The evening will begin with an uphill tour of Lincoln Peak followed by screenings of climate focused ski films that will build the stoke for a discussion about climate action in the recreational community. Come to shred and stay for thoughtful conversation about being a snow-loving community in the era of climate change!
The evening will begin at 5:00 pm with a staggered start for the three different touring groups. All groups will follow Easy Rider to Lower Pushover with their stopping point determined by the lap duration of the group they’re joining. The touring options will be as follows:
Please arrive giving yourself enough time to get suited up and ready, as groups will leave promptly at the times indicated. All groups will aim to be back at base by 6:15 pm. If you are planning to tour, you must obtain a free Sugarbush uphill travel pass prior to the event and we ask that you fill out our sign up form.
Food will be available at Lincoln Peak from Rumble’s Bistro and Bar, which is located across the courtyard from the film screening. If you would like to grab your dinner there, you must pre-order online before starting up the mountain. Orders can be placed online or on the Sugarbush app. Food can be picked up when you return and brought to the film screening space to enjoy.
Please check the Rumble’s menu beforehand to make sure there are options that tickle your fancy and match your budget. If you will not be purchasing food at Rumble’s, we suggest you bring dinner. There will be time from 6:15-7:00 for all those touring to head back to their cars, change, and eat. If you don’t plan on eating at Rumble’s, grab a pizza, pick up some Mad Taco to bring, or swing by Paradise Provisions on your way to the mountain.
There will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase in the Gatehouse Lodge film screening space beginning at 6:30 pm.
The film screenings will begin at 7 pm. There will be several films shown with time between each for discussion. The films and discussion will conclude by 8:30 pm. You do not need to participate in the touring portion of the evening to come enjoy the films and discussion.
We hope to see you there to spend time with fellow outdoor recreationists and discuss the importance of collective climate action in safeguarding the future of the outdoors and our ability to enjoy them.
