Recreation

"In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught." — Baba Dioum

The Mad River watershed is a recreational gem. With miles of trails and paths for hiking, biking, and walking, three great ski resorts, beautiful forests, and 28 miles of the Mad River that connects us all, we are fortunate to live in a wonderful place to get outside in all seasons. Given our tourist economy, and the importance of recreation to local community members, it is vital that we find balance between recreational growth and ecological integrity. With this in mind, we engage in programs that help recreational enthusiasts better understand, and create a strong sense of connection to, our natural environment.
