Rooted in Nature
Mindfulness & Journaling Workshop

Tuesday, July 15
6:00 - 8:00 pm

Tremblay Rd Pines
 - 30 Tremblay Rd, Waitsfield, VT
Join Beth Kendrick, Board Certified Art Therapist from ArtRoots, PLC, Marcy Bucheit from the Friends of the Mad River and Mother Nature for a mindfulness and journaling workshop that invites you to slow down, observe, and connect deeply with the natural world. Through sketching, writing, and grounding techniques, we’ll explore how the observation of and interaction with nature can support wellbeing and inner calm. Guided moments of contemplation will help us reflect on the beauty of biology and our relationship with the Earth. Rediscover joy through simplicity and find harmony in the quiet presence of the wild.

Workshop is available on a sliding scale: pay what you can, suggested amount of $20, and pay it forward for someone else. Journaling materials are provided.

The rain location will be the General Wait House (4061 Main St, Waitsfield, VT).

Birds & Your Buffer Landowner Workshop

Saturday, July 19
2:00 - 4:30 pm

Workshop location will be shared after registration
Are you curious how you could improve the health and quality of your land? Join Friends of the Mad River and Audubon Vermont a landowner workshop, designed for those interested in learning more about land stewardship, especially in the context of bird habitat and river systems.

During this workshop, we will explore a landowner’s property that was planted with 1,200 native trees and shrubs last year as part of ongoing riparian restoration efforts. As we walk and talk, we will explore the connection between river dynamics, land management, bird habitat, and restoration work. We will learn more about how riparian buffers and upland forests provide valuable habitat for birds as well as protect water quality and river health.

We will hear expertise and insights from:
  • Ira Shadis - Executive Director, Friends of the Mad River
  • Mark LaBarr - Conservation Program Manager, Audubon Vermont
  • Macie Broussard - Senior Conservation Associate, Audubon Vermont

The event will go on rain or shine, so we suggest wearing appropriate weather gear. In the case of rain, there will be a tent out of the elements provided for discussion.

Registration is required! There is a limited number of spots available for this workshop, so please register ahead of time.
